Isolating Layers
Use the IsolateLayer command to isolate Layers by hiding Layers. When you hide Layers, you cannot edit entities on these Layers. For sheet Viewports, you can determine whether Layers are turned off or frozen. To reverse the Layer isolation, use the UnisolateLayer command.
To isolate one or more Layers:
- Click Format > Layer Tools > Isolate Layer (or type IsolateLayer).
- In the graphics area, select entities you want to isolate and press Enter.
Only those Layers matching the selected entities remain visible.
To isolate one or more Layers in a single Viewport on a Sheet:
- Click a Sheet tab.
- Type ModelMode to switch to Model workspace.
- Select a Viewport.
- Click Format > Layer Tools > Isolate Layer (or type IsolateLayer).
- Specify the Viewports option:
- Frozen by vport: Freezes all Layers except those you select in the current Viewport.
- Off: Turns off Layers in all Viewports and in sheet mode that have not been selected.
- In the graphics area, select the entities you want to isolate and press Enter.
Only those Layers matching the selected entities remain visible.
